This book contains errors that can't be anything but deliberate fraud.
By Morgan Wright
This book contains errors that can't be anything but deliberate fraud. For example, on page 321 he states:
"Satellites that have been measuring the altitude of the ocean surface since 1992 indicate a mean sea level rise of 3 mm per year, or almost twice the 1.7 mm/yr average for the 1900's."
This is bullocks. The 1.7 mm/yr figure was derived from tide gauges, which still show exactly the same 1.7 mm/yr rise today as they have shown for over 100 years. There has been no change in sea level rise using that metric. The change from 1.7 to 3.0 was because of a change in measuring system, from tide gauges to satellites. To say this shows an acceleration in sea level rise, without saying that the old measuring system finds no such acceleration, is fraud, and its inclusion in a textbook is unconscionable. This can't be a simple error, it's a lie.
For another example, on page 309 he states:
"The rate and amount of warming since 1900 has been unprecedented compared to changes during the previous 1000 years"
No kidding. Because 1000 years ago was the peak of the Medieval Warm Period, which was as warm as today. The warming since 1900 brought us up to the same temperature as 1000 years ago, a date which he picked because it excludes the warming leading up to it. Duh. Why didn't he say 2000 years? Because there were TWO warming periods since Roman times that were as great or greater than today. His use of the word "unprecedented" is meaningless anyway because he gives a starting date. Unprecedented means it never happened before. "Unprecedented" is a cliche word now anyway, one commonly used by warmist attention-seekers as part of their shibboleth.
The above are just two examples of the sort of fraudulent writing which dominates this work. What would motivate somebody to write such a book? Perhaps this quote from page 207 can explain:
"...the American pandemic, a host of diseases carried by Europeans that killed some 50 million Native Americans between 1492 and 1700, or 85-90% of the previous population"
Really? Every epidemiologist knows that if two human populations meet for the first time, they will each have diseases that the other is more sensitive to, but here we have the fantastic situation where one group has "a host" of diseases and the other group has none. How is this possible? Either the Native Americans had no diseases before 1492, which is ludicrous, or they had diseases that Europeans were immune to without ever having been exposed to them, which is even more ludicrous. There was only one disease that Europeans were relatively immune to that wiped out large numbers of Indians, namely smallpox, or Variola majora, because Europeans usually inoculated themselves with Variola minora. Smallpox wiped out many Indians, that's true, but this fact apparently is not condemning enough of white people for some, who would paint a self-loathing picture of Europeans as disease-ridden murderers of innocent forest-dwellers. This remark shows the author's flaming liberal agenda in the writing of this book, which should be thrown in the garbage.
